The complete 2011 Alabama anti-immigrant House Bill 56 was introduced today, Monday, February 13, 2012, in the Mississippi House of Representatives.  Mississippi HB 488, is authored by Rep. Becky Currie of Brookhaven, a professed Tea Bagger and very active xenophobe.  It is double referred.  It is  referred to House Judiciary Committee B, chaired by Rep. Andy Gibson, and to the House Education Committee, Chaired by Rep. John Moore of Brandon.  It contains ALL of the Alabama features—from the schoolhouse to the jailhouse. See attached bill: http://billstatus.ls.state.ms.us/2012/pdf/history/HB/HB0488.xml.

Not everyone agrees with the anti-immigration legislation. We do need immigration reform, but this is not the solution. Politicians today , in Ms. and nationally are so out of touch. How did we ever bounce back from Katrina without the undocumented workforce that worked so compassionately helping the people of Ms. and La. I guess we are quick to forget times like those. I guess it is ignorance that causes hate bills like these to be created. Some of my best and most trusted friends are illegal Hispanics, who crossed the border as teenagers seeking a better life for their families. I have never known more trustworthy or truer friends than they are. I wish I could do more to help the cause.
