Central American Refugee Children Reunited with Mississippi Families

Mississippi has received fewer than 200 of the unaccompanied immigrant children who crossed the U.S. border and were released to sponsors so far this year, but the war of words over such children continues within the state.

At a news conference on Thursday, Июль 24, MIRA issued the following statement.
We need a humanitarian response to the crisis at the US/Mexico bordernot expedited deportations.  Like climate change this crisis was created by bad decisions by our government that go back decades and can only be resolved by dealing with the root causes of migration.
The desperation of poverty, violence, and separation of families causes people to consider the dangerous journey from Central America to Texas without a visa.
Yet over 300,000 people a year have crossed

Migrant Crisis Expands North

Daniel Zamarripa loaded his police dog into the back of his patrol car and set out to track his quarry — immigrants circumventing the local Border Patrol checkpoint.
