We’re Suing the Trump Administration for Taking DACA Away From People Who’ve Followed the Rules

In April, President Trump had a message for the 800,000 young undocumented immigrants who were given permission to live in the U.S. under President Obama’s Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals program: “The dreamers,” he said, “should rest easy.”
We now know that was a lie. In September, Trump announced he was ending the DACA program in six months, plunging nearly a million young immigrants’ lives into chaos. But Trump’s assault on DACA recipients began much earlier than previously known.

Immigration is not just an issue at the borders, it is also an issue in Boston.
As more illegal immigrants are detained, some call it an immigration death sentence. A death sentence because they fear for their lives if they’re deported back to their countries.
One high profile case in Boston has become the example of the new changes in immigration enforcement.

As hundreds of undocumented immigrants were rounded up across the country last February in the first mass raids of the Trump administration, Immigration and Customs Enforcement officials went out of their way to portray the people they detained as hardened criminals, instructing field offices to highlight the worst cases for the media and attempting to distract attention from the dozens of individuals who were apprehended despite having no criminal background at all.

In Yakima, an individual but more complicated immigration detention case is ongoing. It started in May and continues with potential for national implications.
What began as one local case is now three distinct ones.

Dignity for Detained Immigrants Act urgently needed for humane treatment of detainees

Immigrants in detention centers have not been charged with criminal offenses, but they are treated like criminals. Warehousing immigrants – including asylum-seekers who are fleeing violence and persecution in their native countries – in prison-like environments goes against any understanding of human dignity.
常常, guards use excessive force against detainees, and abusively place them into solitary confinement.

在中美. Department of Homeland Security (DHS) last month issued a notice that it is storing social media information on immigrants, including lawful permanent residents and naturalized U.S. 公民, apparently indefinitely, in a government database that contains “Alien Files” (A-Files). This is an invasive new feature of DHS’s previously known programs on collecting social media information.

Newly released records obtained by the News4 I-Team show the severe impact new immigration policies have in the Washington, 特区, metropolitan area; one former judge says it’s making the huge immigration court case backlog even worse.
Records from January through July of 2017 show immigration judges around the country were forced to postpone 24,806 cases, because those judges were not in their courtrooms to hear cases.

Mention Nottingham in a conversation, and it’s pretty likely the first thing to come to mind is Robin Hood.
But the story being told here is very different from the fable of old.
Instead of stealing from the rich to give to the poor, students today who hope to get rich are flocking to this charming city two hours north of London.
Nottingham Business School – which is part of Nottingham Trent University – has seen a 25 percent uptick in interest from international students.
