I am a Ph.D. student at Washington State University, studying molecular biosciences. I graduated from high school and college with highest honors. During my Ph.D. program, I hope to identify molecular targets that can be used to develop therapeutic treatments for bacterial infections. I study Coxiella burnetii bacteria, and I am truly humbled to have the opportunity to make a positive impact in the scientific community and on people’s health through my research.

A decision by the Trump administration to delay and possibly rescind an Obama-era rule could cause the U.S. to fall behind other countries in attracting immigrant entrepreneurs who bring investments and create jobs, experts say.
The so-called International Entrepreneur Rule that the Obama administration introduced in August 2016 aimed to grant parole visas for up to five years to qualified immigrant entrepreneurs.

The bodies are typically found by accident. A decaying corpse drying out in the Texas sun, stumbled upon by a hunter or ranch hand. A call might be placed to the sheriff’s office or the remains might be loaded into the back of a pickup truck. Often, they will be delivered to a rural cemetery where paperwork may or may not be filled out before they are lowered into a hole in some unclaimed corner of the graveyard.

Under the Trump administration’s new executive orders, these are the scenes repeated in many cities: Immigration agents swoop in and take away a domestic abuse victim leaving a court building. In this atmosphere of anger, fear, and confusion, local governments, as well as churches, schools, and hospitals, are declaring themselves “sanctuaries” for undocumented immigrants.
But what does that really mean?

Hang tough. Stand up. Fight Back!

Novembre 14, 2016
The U.S Presidential election results have shocked many and triggered widespread fear in immigrant families. The new President has a laundry list of vicious proposals to attack immigrants and migrant workers. He plans to act immediately, and this will have a direct effect on Mississippi. Bigoted Mississippi legislators have introduced some 292 anti-immigrant bills for consideration in the last decade. MIRA members and their allies have joined together to successfully defeat them. Now these politicians will be emboldened to ramp up their attacks—so we must organize to fight back!
