Survey finds strong support for ‘dreamers’

Majorities of Americans strongly support two potential components of immigration legislation this fall, including deportation protections for younger undocumented immigrants and requiring employers to verify workers are in the United States legally, according to a new Washington Post-ABC News poll.

Four Horsemen is a game about immigrants and refugees, and also kinda sorta the apocalypse. It’s a compelling game, written from a place of deep empathy about a topic that is important to consider in our current political climate. Unfortunately it doesn’t quite come together.
Things are ending for the four friends you follow in this visual novel—school is ending, friendships end, and most significantly these kids have experiences that end their illusions about their identities and the country they live in.

ICE Detention Center Exploits Immigration Detainees For Labor

A privately-run detention center is exploiting immigrants by paying them a dollar a day, Washington State’s attorney general says.
Attorney General Bob Ferguson said Wednesday that he’s suing GEO Group, a private prison operator.
The suit alleges GEO Group uses immigration detainees to run “virtually all non-security functions” at its Northwest Detention Center (NWDC) in Tacoma, Washington — all while paying them next to nothing. Detainee responsibilities range from cooking and cleaning to painting.

Civil Rights Groups Condemn Trump’s Latest Muslim Ban

This evening, the Trump administration announced its new discriminatory Muslim and refugee ban, to include North Korea, Venezuela, and Muslim-majority Chad, and continues to include Iran, Libya, Syria, and Yemen. The degree of immigration restriction varies by individual country, including complete ban. This move by the administration represents an attempt to sanitize a discriminatory and illegal policy before it is reviewed by the Supreme Court on October 10.

When he enlisted in the Army last year, Private First Class Kyungmin Cho thought he would be an active-duty soldier by this time and a proud naturalized citizen of the United States. But despite enthusiastic praise in recent days from President Trump for the service of immigrants like him, Cho’s time as a recruit has left him wondering whether the American military wants him at all.
